Raising the 'Red and White' flag in Lingayan Island

The virgin island with a beach of about 300 people lives there is one of the three groups of Indonesia's outer islands in the District of North Dampal, Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, the extent is about 210 hectares bordering with Malaysia.

This year in commemoration of Independence Day August 17 the islanders (mostly fishermen and coconut farmers) raising the 'red and white' flag for the first time that held by Team Management Minor Outlying Islands (Tim Kerja Pengelolaan Pulau-pulau Kecil Terluar) Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the local government of Central Sulawesi.

Remote island is only about two nautical miles from the Ogotua Village so we can reach by boat engine for about 20 minutes, underwater scenery, dazzling coral reefs surrounded by small islands around it.

Various types of mangrove forest cover in the north of the island, unique rocks on the beach, green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) laying eggs at some other point of the island, although green turtles are threatened with extinction following the hunting of this marine protected animals.

Walking back toward the south can be found endemic bird black hairy Maleo (Macrocephalon Maleo) or Molong bird according to the local language, while drinking coconut water around the island watching the sea waves kissing the shore.

Lots of interesting things found on the Lingayan Island of unspoiled technological advances, a stretch of beautiful white sand is like walking on a rug with a friendly welcome people from various ethnic tribes made comfortable with the atmosphere of nature to linger on this island.

One of the outer islands of Indonesia with large distances to reach about 200 kilometers south of the capital Tolitoli, hopefully not forgotten.
